Welcome to the 9th edition of Eyra!
The other day, I saw a very thought-provoking video of a famous journalist. She showed her anguish on the increasing cases of abuse and rapes against women. One of her thoughts struck a chord in me. She said, ‘We don’t want to be protected because we are your daughters, we demand to be protected as equal taxpaying citizens of this country….’
Yes, why do we fail to recognize our own value sometimes. We forget that we contribute to the economy, we vote, we are citizens and we have rights. We forget to live for ourselves sometimes.
In this issue, we bring you some serious, soul-searching articles full of strength and power. Each article is more empowering than the next.
We bring you the story of an amazing fighter from history, Onakke Obavva, who bravely and single-handedly fought an attacking army of soldiers to save Chitradurga Fort! Next, we have the story of a courageous woman of today, Mythili Sundaram, who is a Deputy Area Commander of Home Guards, Kanya Kumari and also the Director of a leading Tamil publication group – Kalachuvadu Publications.
We also have an article on how we should nurture our sons too, in order to leave a better world for our children. Moving forward, we bring you a piece on how to eat and stay healthy from Ruxandra Ana Maria, the author of Fit Trim Slim, The Easiest And Most Sustainable Way To Lose Weight. She offers us tips on choosing the right type and quantity of food.
In the end, we show you the world from the eyes of the poet, Anu Mahadev, who has battled depression and fought her demons. She talks about the importance of emotions and how to channelize them.
This time around, all our articles have been curated carefully to help all of us lead a better quality of life, both emotionally and physically. Hope you enjoy them as always.
And do not forget to send us your feedback/views/thoughts and opinions. We love to hear from you.
